Select Health, a nonprofit health plan serving more than 1 million members in the Mountain West, today announced the appointment of Sean Dunroe as Market President of the company’s Canyons Region, which includes Utah and Idaho. In this newly developed role, Dunroe will lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives in Utah and Idaho as Select Health continues its expansion of value-based care.
“Dunroe has been an instrumental member of the Select Health family for more than two decades as Select Health has expanded beyond Utah into other markets such as Idaho, Nevada and Colorado,” said Rob Hitchcock, President and CEO for Select Health. “His market development experience and leadership background, paired with his passion to impact people’s physical, emotional and mental health, will improve the healthcare insurance experience for the members he serves.”
As Canyons Region President, Dunroe will retain direct responsibility for Individual and Small Employer product development and growth strategies, gaining responsibility of Large Employer sales. He will drive new business opportunities and oversee collaboration with regulatory, legislative, business, and other Canyons Region community stakeholders, along with network provider partners, including Intermountain Health.
Dunroe has been with Select Health and the broader Intermountain Health family for more than 25 years. He began his career with Select Health in 1997 as a Health Benefit Specialist. He most recently served as Select Health’s Chief Strategy Officer and President of ACA markets. His experience has included working directly with members, marketing and product development and implementing healthcare strategy. Dunroe has a bachelor’s degree in social science from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Weber State University.
“I am committed to Select Health’s mission of helping our members live the healthiest lives possible,” said Sean Dunroe, Canyons Region Market President for Select Health. “This drives me to want Select Health to be the best health plan in the country.”
In June, Dunroe was named a CXO of the Year honoree by Utah Business Magazine for his more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. In his personal life, Dunroe enjoys spending time with his wife Jessica and their four children.
