HEDIS Osteoporosis Management Measure (OMW): Screening & Treatment Options
The HEDIS osteoporosis management measure (OMW) reflects the percentage of women ages 67–85 on Select Health Medicare who suffered a fracture and who, in the 180 days (6 months) after a fracture, had
EITHER:
- A bone mineral density (BMD) test; OR
- A prescription for a drug to treat osteoporosis
Bone Mineral Density Screening: DEXA Scan
Select Health encourages members to have a follow-up bone density test within 180 days of a fracture. This test should be a DEXA scan that either the primary care or endocrinology provider orders or the member receives through House Call Doctors™ (available in Utah only), a vendor we have partnered with who offers an in-home osteoporosis screening option. House Call Doctors can be reached at 801-485-5055.
Osteoporosis Medications
If the member completes a DEXA scan via either option within the 180-day time frame, they will receive $50 added to their Flexible Benefits card. To ensure optimal outcomes, the member must:
- Be prescribed an osteoporosis medication; and receive the medication from the pharmacy
