Regular wellness exams can help you maintain optimal health by detecting and treating concerns early. These routine exams and tests may be considered preventive care and are important for keeping your health in check.

Physicals, mammograms and other cancer screenings, and flu shots are just some examples of preventive care. Talk to your healthcare provider to learn more about what exams and tests are recommended for you as it sometimes depends on your gender and age.

Most preventive care is covered 100% by health plans—that means no copay, coinsurance, or deductible—even if you haven’t met your yearly deductible.

Note: For services to be covered as preventive, your doctor must bill claims with preventive codes. If a preventive service identifies a condition that needs further testing or treatment, you may be responsible to pay more. These services are generally covered once every 12 months.
