Medicare Updates

To better meet the growing need for healthcare services for Medicare beneficiaries in Utah, Select Health and University of Utah Health recently announced an agreement that Select Health will add access to University of Utah hospitals, clinics, and providers to its Medicare Advantage network effective July 1, 2022.

This means your Medicare Advantage clients will have access to a full range of services and facilities such as the University of Utah Hospital, Moran Eye Center, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Huntsman Mental Health Institute, University Orthopedic Center, and community clinics—including the South Jordan, Sugar House, and Farmington Health Centers. It also includes all professional providers, from primary care physicians to specialty and emergency care.

Select Health Advantage members had limited access to certain University of Utah providers and facilities. This change creates access to the entire range of services and locations available through the University of Utah Health system. Covered services received by these providers will be paid as in-network.

To best serve our Medicare beneficiaries in Utah, this agreement with the University of Utah will assist to bring timely, appropriate care to our Select Health Medicare Advantage members. This increase in access to care may:

  • Improve client satisfaction
  • Allow more clients to see the primary care providers of their choice
  • Provide access to specialty care from locations closer to your client's home.

“This expansion of our network opens many doors for Select Health Advantage members. Not only does it provide Medicare Advantage members with broader options, it presents Select Health with great opportunities for growth. By providing additional availability, access, and touch-points to care, we can help keep these members healthy—an essential element of advancing our mission of Helping People Live the Healthiest Lives Possible,” says Mark Wankier, Provider Development AVP at Select Health.
