Medicare Updates
Thank You For Your Support During AEP
We’d like to extend our sincere appreciation for your support during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) for Medicare. Thanks to you, we met our initial goals for Medicare enrollment—and we know how much work goes into a successful AEP! We hope you had a restful holiday.
As we move into the Open Enrollment Period (OEP) (January 1 through March 31) and the rest of 2023, we’d love your help in growing our business. Consider these three Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs):
- New-to-Medicare – The population aging into Medicare continues to grow, and we run New-to-Medicare campaigns seeking age-in growth year-round. Prospects receive direct mail from us starting at 15 months from their 65th birthday and beyond.
- 5-Star – We are a 5-star quality rated plan by CMS, giving us a year-round Special Enrollment Period (SEP) through November 30, 2023, for our HMO plans.
- Dual Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) – Those who qualify for Medicare and Medicare may be eligible for our benefit-rich Select Health Medicare Dual plan, a Dual Special Needs Plan (D-SNP). Prospects can enroll on this plan year-round.

Welcome, New & Returning Medicare Members!
We couldn’t be more excited to serve each of our new and returning Medicare enrollees in 2023. Here are a few things members can expect:
- ID Cards – With the switch to our new name, Select Health Medicare, every member of our plan(s) received new ID cards, including medical and dental. If you hear of any members who haven’t received a card or need assistance, please let us know so we may assist them.
- Flex Cards – Select Health Medicare members should receive their new Select Health Medicare Flexible Benefits Card from Nations Benefits by mid-January. Those with a current email address will also receive an email with information about their new flex card and how to use it. We hope members will take advantage of our Healthy Living program by getting preventive care and use the Wellness Your Way program to visit a gym or attend a health education class, for example. And it’s easier than ever to use the Over-the-Counter (OTC) benefit to get OTC medications and other supplies!
- Welcome Phone Call – New members will receive a welcome phone call from a supportive member of our Member Services team. This is a great time for members to ask any questions they may have about their new plan.
- Welcome Email – New and renewing members with a current email address receive an animated video about their Medicare plan and how to use it. This video covers the basics of their plan and encourages members to sign up for a Select Health account where they can view claims, review benefits, look up the cost of medical procedures, and more.
- Welcome Kit – Members will receive a welcome kit in January. With this kit, members will learn about all the great benefits on their plan and how to use them. From the wellness programs noted above to Papa Pals, our companionship service, our plans offer lots of extras that go beyond basic medical care to support those on Medicare plans.
