SEP for Loss of coverage.

When working with group and individual clients during open enrollment, help them discern between plans that are credible vs. non-credible. Non-credible plans do not meet the minimum standards set by the ACA. These plans don’t have the protection of the DOI and are not considered valid for loss of coverage or mid-year SEPs. It’s important to choose a plan that meets ACA standards to ensure comprehensive coverage.

Colorado Abortion Care.

In 2023, Colorado passed a new law that requires most health insurers to pay for abortion care. The law is intended to promote access to safe and affordable abortion care in the state. As of January 1, 2025, most health insurance issuers that offer individual and group health benefit plans issued or renewed in Colorado shall provide coverage for the total cost of abortion care.

Beginning January 1, 2025, most Select Health subscribers will notice two separate premiums listed on their monthly invoice. This is because federal law prohibits the use of federal funds for certain abortion services. To maintain separation, Select Health will separately invoice $1 per member per month. This fee is specifically for covering the cost of an abortion. For most subscribers, this charge is already factored into their monthly premium. Fully subsidized ACA members will be impacted, as they would now be required to pay $1 per member per month.
