Exciting Announcement: Introducing Our New Utah Individual Sales Account Management Team!

To better serve both lines of business, Select Health is splitting the Small Employer and Individual account managers into two separate teams. This change allows each team to provide the dedicated support and attention needed to ensure success in their respective areas.

We are thrilled to announce the formation of our new Individual Sales Account Management Team, dedicated to supporting the brokers who sell individual health plans for Select Health.

Meet the Team:

Alex Hargrove – Sr. Account Manager of Individual Sales
With six years of industry experience, Alex brings both expertise and enthusiasm to the team. He holds a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration and an MBA from the University of Texas. His personal experience growing up without consistent healthcare has fueled his passion for helping others access quality coverage. When he’s not working, Alex enjoys playing pickleball, spending time outdoors, and keeping up with his two kids and dogs. He is committed to supporting agents and members in achieving healthier lives.

Sylvia Garcia – Sr. Account Manager of Individual Sales
Sylvia has been an integral part of Select Health since 2001, beginning her journey as a Health Benefit Specialist. Over the years, she has gained experience in large employer accounts, self-funded plans, and national accounts. Most recently, she has worked as an account manager for small employer and individual products. As she transitions into the Individual Sales team, she is excited to work more closely with members and agents. A Utah native who isn’t particularly fond of the snow, Sylvia has two grown children and is a devoted cat mom. She looks forward to contributing to the team’s success.

Dawnann Baldwin – Director of Individual Sales
With 12 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Dawnann brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role. She has been with Select Health for 10 years and in between that time, she also spent 2 years working as an agent gaining valuable insight into the needs and challenges faced by brokers. Outside of work, Dawnann enjoys traveling with her family, being a dedicated dog & soccer mom, and expressing her creativity through music and making jewelry. Dawnann is deeply passionate about helping others find the plans and care that they need, and she takes great pride in supporting agents to better serve Select Health’s members.

Our new Individual Sales Account Management Team is here to provide exceptional support, guidance, and expertise. We are confident that their dedication will make a meaningful impact, and we look forward to their contributions in helping brokers and members navigate the individual health plan landscape.

We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the previous Small Employer and Individual account managers for their dedication and support to both lines of business. Their hard work has been invaluable, and we appreciate their continued efforts in supporting the Small Employer product.

Please join us in welcoming Dawnann, Sylvia, and Alex to their new roles!

Annual Small Employer Survey.

We will be sending out the Annual Select Health Small Employer survey to SE groups in the coming weeks (Early March). This survey will help to provide valuable insights from small employers regarding communications and materials we provide to the groups. The feedback we receive will help us better understand employer needs and preferences, which will enable us to enhance our resources and better support them.

Helpful Tips and Reminders for Managing Your Small Employer Business in Select Health Link.

  • How to Submit a Small Employer (SE) Group Term and Deadlines: To submit an SE Group termination with Select Health, locate the group in Link by searching for the group on the My Groups page. Click on the group name to go to the Employer Summary page. Scroll to the bottom of the Employer Information section where you will see a “Terminate Group/Subgroup” button. Be sure to provide the necessary termination information and documentation. It's highly recommended to talk to your Select Health representative or Account Manager for more details and guidance. Ensure that you submit this information before the requested term date to avoid any delays or issues. As long as Select Health receives the termination request before the requested term date, the process will proceed smoothly, ensuring no coverage gaps.
  • How to Submit SE Agent of Record (AOR) in Link: Submitting SE AOR requests in Link is a straightforward process. First, log in to your Link account and navigate to the "Agent Tools" dropdown. From there, select "SE Group Agent of Record Request.” On this screen you can download the SE Group AOR form. Make sure the form is filled out completely with the group ID number, client name and signature, dates, and the agent’s signature. On the SE Group Agent of Record request screen, enter the Group ID and click continue. You’ll then be able to upload the completed AOR form. Once submitted, you will receive confirmation, and the request will be processed by Select Health. For additional information and instructions, you may view this video tutorial.
  • How to Use the Census Upload Feature: The census upload feature in Link allows you to efficiently upload member data for group accounts. To use this feature, you must use the Select Health provided template, which can be found towards the top of the "census" page of the quoting process. Prepare the template with the required information, including member names, birthdates, and product enrollment details (e.g., medical, dental, vision).  Once your template is ready, navigate to the census section and follow the prompts to upload your file. Once satisfied with the census information, you can continue the quoting process.
  • For additional training on the Link system, please contact: Darrin.Reed@selecthealth.org or your Account Manager.

CAA Gag Clause Confirmation of Compliance.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA) of 2021 requires group health plans and health insurance issuers to submit gag clause prohibition compliance attestations annually. Select Health has completed the necessary review of its agreements to ensure compliance with the gag clause prohibition and has done the following:

  1. Made the attestation for fully insured customers as required.
  2. Made available a Confirmation of Compliance for self-funded customers to support them in doing their own attestation.

Select Health Agents may share the following Select Health branded document with customers: Confirmation of Compliance - Gag Clause Attestation

Select Health hereby attests that the administrative services it provides to its self-funded customers are consistent with the requirements set forth in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (PL 116260), Division BB, Section 201: INCREASING TRANSPARENCY BY REMOVING GAG CLAUSES ON PRICE AND QUALITY INFORMATION.

Please let your Select Health Account Manager know if you have any questions.

The annual attestation deadline was December 31.

You may use the Confirmation of Compliance to support your attestation for any Select Health administered medical, pharmacy, and behavioral health services.

Health and Human Services (HHS) has supplied the portal and instructions for issuers and customers to complete their attestation via CMS. It is important to follow the instructions that are accessible through the CMS site.

Your Select Health representative may have also supplied a copy of the Confirmation of Compliance.
