Why behavioral health access matters in Utah

Behavioral health challenges affect thousands of Utah residents every year. Utah ranks eleventh in the country for share of adults with any mental illness. 1 At the same time, Utah faces a shortage of behavioral health care providers,2 which means appointments can take longer to schedule.

Select Health’s goal is to help members live their healthiest lives possible. We hope to reduce the barriers Utahns face in getting appropriate behavioral health care by offering this navigational service to members* at no additional cost.

What NovumHealth offers

NovumHealth makes it easier for Select Health members* to connect with behavioral health and substance use treatment in Utah. The program can help both adults and children with:

  • Access to a NovumHealth team member who can make a behavioral health appointment for you. Members can get timely access to the right care at the right time.
  • Smooth transitions from care centers. NovumHealth works with members and families to move from in-patient facilities back home safely. They assist with discharge planning and connecting members with the right support and follow up.
  • In-person support. Members who are in care centers or who are hospitalized can have face-to-face support with access to a trained NovumHealth team member, called a care coordinator. Care coordinators spend time with members and understand the situation in-person, removing barriers so members can access the right level of care they need.

The value for employers

Employers know their employees are their most valuable resources. A Gallup panel found that U.S. employees with behavioral health struggles are absent from work more often than those who report good mental health. Employers who want to help their employees thrive may find value in giving their employees a plan with access to NovumHealth’s resources.

Employees can get timely access to healthcare providers that can help them find solutions for behavioral health challenges.

At the same time, employees experience peace of mind knowing they can reach therapy and counseling services in using a streamlined process.
