Over-the-Counter (OTC) Benefit

Select Health Medicare members can pay for OTC items using their Benefits Mastercard® Prepaid Card (Flex Card) to pay for a wide range of everyday health items, such as:

  • Pain relievers
  • Vitamins and minerals (e.g., fish oil, calcium, multivitamins)
  • Bandages and antibiotic ointment
  • Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss
  • Cough drops
  • Cotton swabs
  • Antacids
  • Lotion
  • Eye drops
  • First aid supplies ...and more

Some plans combine the OTC benefit with other benefits. Kroger and Dual plan members must have a qualifying chronic condition to use the OTC benefit.

Once logged in, you can:

  • Review spending allowance balances and expiration dates
  • Review, order, and track OTC products
  • Find approved retail locations
  • Track orders and transaction history
  • Submit a Wellness Your Way reimbursement request

Use your Benefits Mastercard® Prepaid Card when checking out at an approved retail location. Swipe your card for payment and select “credit” when prompted. Selecting “debit” will decline the transaction.

Your OTC allowance is available on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis, depending on your plan. Unused funds do not roll over to the next period. To make the most of your benefit, use your allowance within the timeframe specified by your plan.

Call NationsBenefits at 833-878-0232 (TTY: 711) and provide your date of purchase. A Member Experience Advisor will help research the reason for your declined transaction. Advisors are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time.

If you purchase approved OTC items at an approved retailer and your transaction is declined, you may request reimbursement via the NationsOTC portal at selecthealth.nationsbenefits.com. Reimbursements must be submitted by March 31 of the next plan year, and funds must be available in the benefit period in which the purchase was made.
