Spring and summer are the perfect time to take advantage of warm weather and longer nights by going for a hike.

Getting out in the great outdoors can be therapeutic, and everyone can benefit from some exercise and fresh air. But before you head out, read our 5 Tips for Planning a Safe Hike. Here are a few of our favorite hikes in Idaho.

Super Easy: Balanced Rock (roadside attraction)

Looking for an easy hike with a great reward? Balanced Rock in Salmon Falls Creek Canyon, near Twin Falls, is the place to visit. Wander your way to the base of Balanced Rock from the road and enjoy a nice secluded picnic with a giant rock towering overhead on a narrow precipice.

Easy: Fourth of July Lake (3.4 miles out and back)

Even though the Fourth of July may be over, Fourth of July Lake, near Stanley, Idaho, makes a great place to visit. Less than three miles round trip, you can easily access this glittering lake and enjoy the surrounding beauty and towering mountain peaks.

Easy: Jump Creek Falls Trail (0.6 miles out and back)

This hike near Marsing, Idaho will lead you to a beautiful waterfall and is good for all skill levels. It’s family friendly and is best used from March until October.

Moderate: Table Rock Trail (3.7 miles out and back)

Enjoy a view of Boise while walking this popular trail, best done between March until November. There is very little shade, so take plenty of water with you, and enjoy the wildflowers while you’re there. Dogs are permitted on a leash.

Moderate: Blue Lake Trail (1.6 miles out and back)

Hike to a beautiful lake on this trail located near Cascade, Idaho. This hike is kid-friendly, though it does have some steep parts. Dogs are permitted on a leash.

Moderate/Difficult: Palisades Creek (13.3 miles out and back)

Near Irwin, Idaho, this long hike can be accomplished as a day hike or an overnighter, depending on your speed. You'll wind your way up along the creek, soaking up the stunning 360 degree views.
