3 Simple Ways to Be More Mindful
Practicing mindfulness even for a few minutes a day can improve your health.
In our highly digitized world, it’s hard to connect and just be. Being mindful means paying attention to the present with real intention, while letting go of any judgmental thoughts. Not only is being mindful good for our mental health, it boosts our immune system, helping us to fight off disease.
Being mindful improves our concentration and reduces stress. It is a place where you can go to understand and deal with your emotions in a healthy way. Mindfulness is a way to be more observant and compassionate, and it can bring us closer to the people we care about by being more receptive to what’s happening in the present moment. But being more mindful doesn’t have to be complicated or take a lot of time—we can find simple ways in our day to be more present.
1. Savor the food that you eat
Let your senses take over and really taste the flavors of food.
2. Go for a short walk
Notice how the walking makes your body feel, and if your mind wanders, come back to the awareness and joy of just walking.
3. Find a quiet space just for you
Take a minute to give yourself a moment of compassion and to think kind thoughts. You can start slowly with just three to five minutes, and work your way to being mindful for longer periods. Practicing mindfulness even for a few minutes can improve your health and well-being.
