  2. Get off social media

A surefire way to feel bad about yourself is to compare your life to the lives of others. Turn off the computer, put down the phone, and bring yourself back to the present moment.
  3. Light a candle

Let your favorite scent uplift your senses. There’s something calming about candles, and having their warmth and scent surround you is a treat.
  4. Say something positive

If you’re like most people, your inner voice isn’t very kind. Take five minutes to repeat a few positive affirmations to yourself: “I’m kind” and “I’m a great person” and “I’m a necessary person” all work quite well.
  5. Find a luxury

It may be wearing a favorite perfume indoors or eating a piece of chocolate or even eating a grilled cheese sandwich. Determine what your idea of a luxury is, and then treat yourself to that luxury for important self-care.
  6. Practice visualization

Shut your eyes and escape to the world of your choosing. For five minutes, picture a perfect place and pretend you’re there. It could be a castle or the countryside—either way, give your brain an instant vacation.
  7. Read

Grab a book and jump in. Reading is a great way to practice self-care and quiet nerves. If you want to really level-up your self-care, try reading in the bath for a double dose of relaxation.
