The following are letters from educators who have participated in the STEP Express program.
“Please allow me to express my gratitude for all that SelectHealth has done for the benefit of students in the Granite School District. By agreeing to sponsor an eight-week physical education program that integrates the Utah State Core Curriculum in elementary schools, SelectHealth impacts the education and improves the health of our students in Granite School district. Strong business and community partnerships are vital to the success and mission of public schools, and we are fortunate to have such a partnership with SelectHealth. We couldn’t be happier with the success of our relationship with SelectHealth and look forward to continue working and collaborating with your organization on behalf of Utah’s school-age children."
-Curtis Hale, PE & Athletics Specialist, Granite School District
“Physical education contributes to the total growth and development of all children. Physical health and mental well-being are essential prerequisites to successful academic instruction. The opportunity to gain knowledge, develop skills, and deepen the attitudes which promote physical activity as an important part of everyday life must be provided as a regular part of the school experience. It is critical that a structured activity and skill-based program be provided in elementary school. The SelectHealth’s STEP Express program has provided these opportunities at Driggs Elementary School. We are giving students at an early age the activities that counter an increasingly sedentary lifestyle with its associated health risks.”
-Cal Poulson, Principal, Driggs Elementary School
