It is a big time in your life as you prepare bring a baby into the world. A little planning will help keep your relaxed when it’s time for delivery.

What you need for admissions.

  • Photo ID
  • Your SelectHealth ID Card
  • Most hospitals allow you to preregister. Check with your doctor or hospital to determine if that is an option.

What to bring for your stay

  • Make your hospital stay more comfortable, by bringing, the following items:
  • Toothpaste, toothbrush, and other personal toiletries
  • Bathrobe and slippers
  • Comfortable sleepwear
  • A list of current medications
  • Glasses, if needed
  • Instructions your doctor may have provided
  • A camera (this way you can savor every moment with your newest family member)
  • Clothes for the baby
  • Books and magazines
  • Clothes to wear home
  • Infant car seat

What not to bring

  • Jewelry
  • Lots of cash or other valuables
  • Medications

Remember: You are required by law to have an infant car seat, or safety seat, to bring your baby home from the hospital. Learn more about car seats and car safety. 

Intermountain's Primary Children's Medical Center has a Safe Kids Inspection Station for families who would like help learning the proper way to use and install car seats.
