Federal-HIPUtah is a temporary, federally subsidized health insurance program that provides coverage to uninsured individuals with pre-existing conditions who have been without insurance coverage for at least six months. Federal-HIPUtah provides transitional coverage to individuals until January 1, 2014, when health insurance exchanges become available and pre-existing condition exclusions are prohibited.
