Utah’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool (HIPUtah) is specifically designed to provide health coverage for people with serious medical conditions. HIPUtah also serves as the state’s Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act alternative, which is required by the federal government.
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING HIPUTAH COVERAGE AND HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM - THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT
There is good news regarding your healthcare coverage!
Open enrollment has begun in the new individual health insurance Marketplace. You may be able to take advantage of income-based tax credits towards the purchase of your health coverage, which means that your coverage may cost less than you are paying now. In the Utah Marketplace, you'll be able to choose from 90 plans with different levels of coverage, networks and formularies.
Effective January 1, 2014, all plans provide guaranteed coverage with no medical underwriting and no pre-existing condition exclusions or waiting periods. Your HIPUtah coverage will end December 31, 2013. For an effective date of January 1 and to avoid a gap in coverage, you will need to enroll no later than December 15, 2013.
Below you will find links that will help you navigate through this transition. You will find links to all notices sent to current HIPUtah Enrollees, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), Navigator information, carrier contacts, how to apply for coverage in the Individual Federally Facilitated Marketplace, how to find a broker for assistance, and more
For those who have been approved, please use the link below to complete your orientation. When the window opens, please provide your full name and email address where specified. If you are watching this with another HIPUtah member, please make sure to include both names (i.e John and Jane Smith), so all viewers get credit. The orientation is about 12-15 minutes long. Please note that it will inform the HIPUtah orientation representative how long you have watched the orientation. Anyone who has not watched the entire orientation will not receive full credit and will need to watch it again in its entirety.
